SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Player of the week: Robert Vaden, UAB

He picked a good time to score a career-high 33 points, including the go-ahead trifecta with just 1:15 left to play as Mike Davis' Blazers stunned Kentucky. UAB came back from a 17-point deficit thanks to Vaden, who was on fire in the second half. He finished the game hitting 10-of-18 field goals, including seven-of-11 three-pointers in the 79-76 surprise.

Team of the week:Miami (Fla.)

For those who picked the Hurricanes to finish at the bottom of the ACC standings, think again. My friends, Frank Haith has done a super job early on as Miami is now 9-0 following a 64-58 win at Mississippi State. Starkville is a tough place to play as Jack McClinton scored 29 points to key the W!

Coach of the week: Herb Sendek, Arizona State

He has a very young squad, though they sent a message in a blowout win over Xavier. Playing four freshmen for a good part of the game, ASU enjoyed its first home victory over a ranked non-conference opponent since Dec. 20, 1980, when the Sun Devils defeated No. 7 Ohio State.

Diaper Dandy of the week: DeJuan Blair, Pittsburgh

He came up big in a win over Oklahoma State. The underrated Blair hit eight-of-10 field goals, scored 20 points, grabbed 10 boards and blocked five shots as Jamie Dixon's squad remained unbeaten, 85-68 over the Cowboys.

Shock of the week: Ohio U. over Maryland

The Bobcats stunned the Terps, 61-55. It was just the fourth non-conference home loss in 19 seasons for Maryland under Gary Williams. Leon Williams had 15 points and 15 rebounds in the upset.
